There is proof of this in what each domain offers in terms of features. POP is availiable on some, but not others. Yahoo! China has POP and 1GB (and has had it for awhile) but most others don't. So you can't swith to different domains, as far as I know.
The process, after deleting my account with Yahoo.com, was very easy. When the time period was almost to being passed, I checked, in the form to sign up for a new email account with Yahoo! Spain (yahoo.es) if the address (username) was available. When it was (and remember, I checked twice each day), I inmediately signed up and get my old username, but AT yahoo.es (not AT yahoo.com), with all features available at Yahoo! Spain).
I used to use them when I still had a M$ box. Give them a spin, I just got tired of M$ after my last bit of finding a key logger on my XP box. This is while I'm behind a decent firewall and use both Alura ant-spyware plus McAfee (all up to date). Got tired of it and went totally Linux and Solaris.
Also I'd suggest exploring the IMAP protocol. This way you can keep your email on your providers servers and they back it up. Ever since I started using IMAP I've never looked back! Also I'd recommend using SSL with IMAP.
If your mail is important, I would advise to do aproper backup (of your mailstore) to another computer or disk and/or CD or DVD.
Creating an IMAP account is no guarantee of safety. Many new IMAP users have in fact mistakenly erased their mail on their local computer. The changes made have then been synched to the server, resulting in a total loss of mail.
I have less than 100 MB of mail and copy my Mailstore to a CD for backup.
I don't use a program (I do this manually) but it only takes a few minutes
Exactly how to to accomplish this (or what to copy with Thunderbird on windows) I cannot advise on, as I use Thunderbird on my MAC, which is running OS X.
I agree with your views on IMAP sadly Gmail or "Yahoo Plus" doesn't support IMAP. I wrote to Gmail and Yahoo they told me they have no plans for IMAP due to the fact they see POP3 as the main method of accessing emails. I hope they change their minds!
Zimmerman who developed PGP started hushmail after selling to Network Associates PGP. They have an encrypted secure email service that has both free and for fee. They also have the hush messenger which I've used and it's pretty decent. You just have to have at the bare minimum a free account with them to use it.
Nothing changed our lives so draI could not understand what exactly you mean. When u deleted your yahoo.com account, could u been able to check your yahoo.com account, since u had deleted your account from yahoo.com. Second why did u keep checked your account for 75 days, did u able to recieve e mails on yahoo.com account during that period? what does that mean. Which account u checked yahoo.com or yahoo.es. Hopefully u explained me in detail step by step.
Good news, thanks. Sounds like an essential utility for Firefox. Should take care of my main objection to Firefox. Reinstall issues.
Mozillazine forums seem to recommend uninstall / reinstall, and this is time consuming. Some say otherwise, but I do this and have none of the problems with Firefox that I hear others have. Maybe doing preliminary total uninstall is the reason, maybe not. I've found it simpler just to do it (even though it takes me 30 minutes to download). Still, I've never added any extensions. As I had thought I would simply be added to the process. And I gather, these are half the attraction of Firefox.
As for the Tbird backup, I see backup as a major concern for Tbird, and not just here in EMD forum. Two birds with one stone.
I just checked if the username was free to be registered again; I use this same username in several systems and I also use this username with Yahoo! Messenger that only need the username (not full email address) to make people find you and add to his/her contact list.
